"Never Ending Math Equation"
1) I choose this photo because I like the plain concentration of the professor face while she is solving a math equation on the overhead. I also like the way the photographer captured the shadows as well as the actual picture.
2) The rules of photography shown in this picture is rule of thirds and a frame from the lighting around the woman.
3) I believe I could take pictures similar to the community service pictures I saw today in a downtown marathon supporting a specific charidity or in a soup kitchen.
4) I would preferably take pictures in the library since thats where a good deal of kids do academic work.
5) To get a good photo I would have to use photography rules and try to avoid mergers. I would also try to get a good angle instead of taking a picture just straight on.

Academic Shoot Preview Assignment
The Story
The story of this picture is that a nonprofitable company set up a food stand for people in need or people that have a hard time providing for their children or themselves. A group of high school volunteers contributed, by working the food drive and raising enough money to purchase such food at their local high school.
Action and Emotion
The action taking place in this photo is the two students working on a science or engineering project and the specific tools working on some type of mechancial engine. The emotion taking place here is the inference of the male student behind the other student staring in awe and closely examining the action taking place.

Filling the Frame
The frame is filled by having a group of students gathered around what looks like a pole in a prayer-type motion. This particular picture is interesting to me because it provides a clear view of a academic activity taking place and it makes me think about what could be going on and the reasoning behind the holding of hands.

Manipulation Photos
Most unethical:
This is the most unethical because the photographer made it look like a troop was going to shoot and father protecting his child. It was unfair to cirque the picture in this fashion because it makes the solider seem more harmful than he actually is.

Least Unethical:
This is the least unethical because no photographer was present during this event so they recreated the event so they can use and image to out up on their magazine.
Photo Manipulation and Ethics
The main point the author wanted to get across was the way falsifying photographs can be highly offensive to readers and will bring up unwanted discussion of the photograph. Such discussion could cause photographers or journalist their jobs, because of the cruel tactics that display untrue photos. The author also stresses the fact that photographers continually make this mistake and choose not to learn from previous actions that has taken place in the photojournalism field.
I believe that is unethical to produce photos that discriminate others and purposely create problems between people. It is unfair to allow journalist to put themselves before others. It just shows how selfish they are, since they falsify images for their own amusement or to get attention.

Post Shoot Refection
Refection
1)Some challenges I found with trying to get photos for the first 4 prompts was the limited amount of people I came in contact with to get some happy people.
2) Some technical aspects of photography that I found myself thinking about the most was by getting a picture from the side and holding the camera differently. An example of when I did this was in my photograph for metal.
3) If I could do this assignment again I would probably use framing and capture photographs differently by adding more interest into the picture.
4) I would probably keep the metal picture the same because I really like that style and the way it turns out.
5) Check out prompt photos.
6) I wouldn't really mind redoing this prompt again but I would prefer a new topic so I can have a fresh start and really focus on how to make better pictures.

The First 6 Rules of Composition 9/11
Line: This photo shows line because of the burned trees leading the eye up into the foggy sky. Line is performed by capturing several lines in the surrounding area and make it have one focus point ( where the eye ends up on the screen)
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS6o0t3eVnnGK6xPiOqWe9fUl7YPqvSVETUFpjy1gd6JfGrtShQrT88WrgxiXoa_d5OZoJ7K9POL584i8w9jOCDV4IFaLqSIrK7yUJXjbo_5tXOUA9hQxJp-jT5MHERDaQE406r9jBraU/s1600/september-9-11-attacks-anniversary-ground-zero-world-trade-center-pentagon-flight-93-pennsylvania-airplane_39994_600x450.jpg)

Balance:
This photo shows balance by allowing the viewer to see both sides of the city. The landscape is somewhat symmetrical making it balance out the city and the buildings. Balance is demonstrated by having two similar objects in size or value and putting them side by side to make it seem balanced.
Framing
This picture shows framing having the people on the street stand out by having borders of newspaper missing people around the area. Framing is done by having at lead two borders around the main focus point and making it stand out .
Avoiding Mergers
This is a picture of a merger because the man is having a flag shoved in his face. I believe this might be intentional merger since the photographer specifically captured this moment. Mergers are bad photographs that have things sticking awkwardly in the way of the picture or having people heads or bodies cut off from the picture.
Rule of Thirds
This picture shows rule of thirds because the main subject is directly on the line that proves its rule of thirds.Rule of thirds is done by having the main subject on the rule of thirds line and having a line that makes your eyes follow to the main subject.

National Geographic
Eruption of the Cordon del Caulle
Ricardo Mohr
This is my favorite photo from the collection because of the unrealism look of the picture. I also like the worm's eye view, letting me see everything around the eruption. I think thats its very cool and interesting to look at because of the sudden burst of color and the outstanding background.
If I could summit a photo for this contest I would probably want a landscape picture of some beautiful, snow covered mountains in Switzerland. I would most likely want a view of a lake or a valley in the photo as well.

Touching People
1) I think that this project and photo essay is vey humorous and creative.
2) If someone approached me with a camera and asked me to participate in a photo shoot and then asked me to touch a stranger I would become very awkward and confused. I would probably even turn them down.
3) I think it would be cool to have total strangers feed each other whatever type of food they desired and take pictures of it.
4) I think that the photos are very interesting to look at. I do think that they are good pictures, I like that they change backgrounds drastically, giving you insight of the different places the photographer went to.

Top 40 Photos
I picked this photo because I like all the unsaid emotion shown from the girl. I think what made my eyes gravitate to this picture is the way the photographer angled it to show the whole scene. I think this picture made the top 40 because of the sad truth behind this picture and that everyone feels really sympathetic towards children and their animals.
Isolation
Yuriko Nakao/ Reuters
I picked this picture because I like the way you can look back into the past and see the way each sister has grown or changed. The photographer just took the photo strait on without any particular angle, but it is in black and white to symbolize the time line of this photo. I think this made the top 40 because it has a cool way of showing the then and now and it also tells a story without words.
Time Passing

I picked this photo because of the inspiring message it represents. It also has a very cool, faded kind of look. The photographer set this picture up by angling it show not only the main subject , but the solders in line as well. This composition is what made my eyes gravitate to the picture. I think this made the top 40 pictures because it became the symbol of the flower power movement, which gave a lot of people hope and peace in what's to come in the Vietnam War in the 1960's to the 1970's.

Prompt Pictures
Metal
This photo contains line that makes the eye move either up or down depending on how u=you ooh at it.
Square
This picture has simplicity because it has a ver simple background and clearly shows what the main subject is.
Happy
This picture has bad merger by having the post go straight through his arm and having unneeded objects in the photo.
Bowie
This photo contain line by leading the eye straight to the group of people. The ceiling and the floor act as lines.

Warm Up 9/15
1) I think that the unique idea is actually very creative and artistic. It makes you look at things from a new perspective and it makes you notice different details.
2) When I first looked at the pictures I immediately thought of a gorilla, but slowly started to see the human face upside down.
3) Sometime maybe I could try something unique like this by taking pictures of downtown buildings upside down.

Beginner's Guide to Photography
The Camera
2) In the 17th century the lenses and optics helped man get a step closer to creating the modern camera.
3) The parts of the first modern camera invented by Niepce are glass lens, a dark box, and film.
4) The modern digital cameras and the Niepce camera have in common the fact that they both have to get light to pass through the lens and into the film to expose it to the film.
5) The digital camera that is used to capture an image is called CCD.
Camera Modes
6) The difference between the Auto Mode and the Program mode is that you can control flash and a few other camera settings.
7) The portrait mode is used for blurring out the background. It works by using the fastest available lens setting.
8) The spots mode is used to freeze motion. It works by using the highest shutter speed possible.
The Half Press
9) You should do a half press on the the trigger button because the camera will respond faster.
Controlling Flash
10) The controlling flash symbol means to fire the flash when the lighting is low.
11) The Auto-Flash means that the camera will automatically fire if the camera thinks it needs more light. You would use this when the lighting may be somewhat dark.
Introduction to Exposure
12) When your photo has too much light it will make it look washed out.
13) When your photo has too little light your photo will come out dark.
The Universe Stop
14) A "Stop" is a relative measure of light.
15) There is 1 stop brighter when the new planet has two suns instead of one.
16) There are 2 stops brighter when the new planet has four suns instead of two.
Shutters and Aperture
17) The longer shutter speed affect has more light.
18) The shorter shutter speed affect has less light.
19) The aperture control allows you to control the amount of light you want.
20) When adjusting the aperture you can increase the amount of light by going to stop f2.8.

Brianna GarciaThis is my worst picture because it too far out of focus. I would prefer if it was closer in to Priscilla and I would like it if I didn't get Reagan's arm in the picture. It looks out of place and I feel like it could of been better if I got a better view or angle.
